Romantic Book of the
Year Award (R*BY)
Our premier award, and the only one of its kind in Australia. Voted
on by
Australian readers, this contest is open to any Australian or
New Zealand romance author who writes long or short romance
novels.

2008 R*BY Details
Entries for the 2008 R*BY are now open.
The 2008 R*BY is for books
first published between
1 January 2007
and 31 December 2007 inclusive.
Published means
distributed in either printed or electronic form to bookshops,
booksellers, online etc, whether in Australia or elsewhere.
Electronic publications are eligible for entry ONLY if supplied in
conventional bound book format for this competition.
A novel may only
be entered into the R*BY
competition once. The author/publisher/member of the public
submitting the entry must choose whether to enter the novel in the
year it is published overseas or the year it is released in
Australia. Repeat entries will be disqualified.
Entries can be
either Short Romance or Long Romance.

Any
work of fiction of less than 80,000 words is eligible to enter
the ‘Romantic Book of the Year – Short’

Any work of
fiction of 80,000 words or more is eligible to enter the
‘Romantic Book of the
Year – Long'
The works of
fiction can be of any genre but must include a strong romantic
theme.
Entries close on 9 February 2008. Entries received after
this date will be rejected.
Entry
costs are:

A
non-refundable payment of AUS$22.00 ($20.00 + $2.00 GST) per
entry (payable to RWA Inc) for current financial members of
RWA or
-
A
non-refundable payment of AUS$66.00 ($60.00 + $6.00 GST) per
entry (payable to RWA Inc) for Australian non-members of RWA.
This includes 6 months membership or
-
A
non-refundable payment of AUS$69.50 (includes international
postage, excludes GST) per entry for New Zealand non-members
of RWA. This includes 6 months membership.
