Fonts

RWA contests require non-proportional fonts.  These are also known as fixed-with or monospaced fonts.
If you're dissatisfied with the non-proportional font you're currently using, here are some links to a few you might not yet have seen.  And they're free.
Andale Mono (formerly Monotype.com) for PCs, Microsoft (Note: January 2003 - looks as if this font is no longer available on the Microsoft website.)
Andale Mono for Apple Mac OS, Microsoft (Note as above.)
Dark Courier Hewlett Packard
Onuava Scriptorium (PC and Mac)
You'll also find Dark Courier and Onuava, along with other non-proportional fonts such as Crystal and HyperFont, at Old Typewriter Fonts(Note: January 2003 - this website is lately occasionally out of action.)

Some of fonts on the Old Typewriter Fonts site go for the "grunge" look, and are not suitable for contest entries or submission to editors.

Further, some fonts that look fine on your browser screen might look a little "iffy" on your word processing screen.  The only way to properly trial some fonts is to print a test page.

If you like the look of a new font, and are not sure whether it is or is not a non-proportional or monospaced font, then try the following test:

Times New Roman, proportional font:

aaaaaaaaaa

iiiiiiiiii

wwwwwwwww

Ten letters in each line; each line is a different length.

Courier New, non-proportional font:

aaaaaaaaaa

iiiiiiiiii

wwwwwwwwww

Ten letters in each line; each line is the same length.

If you don't have TNR and Courier New on your computer, then the above example might not display correctly.

A note for Mac users

Many of the fonts you'll find will be TT fonts, and the files are zipped. If you can decompress the PC zip files, then you can convert Windows TT fonts into Mac compatible fonts. See the links below.
